Write better with less
At PILOT, we are constantly innovating to make our pens more environmentally friendly.
Everything we do is based upon the ability to WRITE BETTER WITH LESS – aiming to reduce the environmental impact of our production while maintaining our standards of quality and innovation.
In 2006 we launched our Begreen range: the first range of pens made from at least 70% recycled plastic* with 85% of these pens being refillable (* % of recycled material, excluding consumables.)
This approach made Pilot the first manufacturer in the world to offer more environmentally friendly writing instruments. The determination to be environmentally responsible is the driving force behind our teams. From design to sales, we put all our energy into minimising our environmental impact.
Our Begreen range is Eco Mark certified.
What is Eco Mark?
An environmental label that was launched by the Japan Environment Association in 1989 and is based on the international standard ISO-14024 where the entire product life cycle is evaluated and certified by a third party.
A full range for every need
Pilot is proud to be the only supplier that can offer a full range of products matching the criterias of a third party certification.
The first pen range with a minimum recycled plastic content of 70%
By using recycled plastic, Pilot:
-
uses less oil
-
helps to conserve our natural resources
-
reduces product’s CO2 impact.
Refillable pens
“Don’t bin your pen. Refill it.”
Most of the Pilot Begreen writing instruments offer a sustainable solution by being refillable. When the ink runs out, simply refilling instead of buying a new pen helps to minimise the use of disposable plastic in our daily lives.
In addition, refilling a pen helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as the production of an entire pen generates more CO2 than a simple refill.
Our actions in video
Preserving the environment is a major challenge that has long guided our acts and thinking.
At Pilot, we constantly innovate while sustainably involving ourselves to limit our impact on the planet. Transforming our pens to make them ever more eco-friendly is a genuine technological and human feat.
As part of our commitment to transparency, our environmental targets and results can be freely viewed here.
